Vernon Research Group submitted their final invoice in the amount of $15,725 for survey work and analysis. Fencl recommended making a partial payment of $5,106 to Vernon and to withhold payment of the balance $10,619 until the full report is received. Motion by Cooper, second by Bading to request that the City of Marion make a partial payment of $5,106 to Vernon on invoice dated August 12, 2014 for survey work completed. Motion carried.
Planning Process: Fencl reviewed the schedule for the remaining Lunch & Learn sessions and the process for completing the goal setting process. The Board consensus was to review and prioritize draft goals, objectives and associated action steps at a work session in October.
Social Assessment: Fencl reviewed the progress of the survey work. The urban/suburban survey and the creek user survey are complete and the results have been analyzed. The survey of ag producers has been more challenging to complete. A print version of the survey has been mailed to 55 ag producers in the watershed with a cover letter from the local Farm Bureau chapter in hopes of gaining more completed surveys. Beck suggested that the survey work be updated every 5 years to gauge the success of plan implementation.
