Workshop/Meeting Summary

The WMA Committee partnered and participated in the first Indian Creek Pilot Study workshop on January 26, 2012 organized by the Iowa-Cedar Interagency Coordination Team lead by the Army Corps of Engineers. A news release describing the workshop is attached. The Indian Creek WMA was able to announce and describe our efforts to establish a 28E Agreement as well as host a Watershed District Manager from Minnesota to provide background for forming a watershed group. A workshop agenda is attached.

Project Announcement: Jennifer gave a brief presentation at the workshop about the Indian Creek Watershed Management Authority project and the motivation behind the effort. The Committee submitted their top three priorities in forming a WMA in Indian Creek Watershed (list attached).
Presentation for the WMA: Bev Nordby from the Cedar River Watershed District in Austin, MN, presented her experience in forming a Watershed District years ago. The presentation highlighted what can be accomplished with a watershed approach to management. The Indian Creek WMA Committee had several good questions and the discussion was helpful for those in attendance.
