Project Administration Update:  Submitted two claims and working on the third. IEDA granted our contract extension request until June 30, 2012. Jennifer requested that committee members submit a summary of their in-kind time devoted to the WMA project to date.

Jennifer has presented initial WMA information to policy makers in Alburnett, Linn Co. SWCD, Linn Co, Robins, and Marion. Scheduled to present at the Cedar Rapids Infrastructure Committee meeting April 17th.

Opportunities:  Marion is submitting a response to the Iowa Watershed Project Request for Information (RFI) from the Iowa Flood Center. The WMA group discussed coordination on the project, if funded.

Discussed Phase II of the WMA pilot project. Funding will be made available later this year to develop a watershed management plan. Will need to present a strong case to receive funding.

The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation is planning a workshop designed to train planning, EMS and other city/county staff about watershed management issues. The workshop is scheduled for May 16th at the Center for Energy & Environmental Education, UNI campus, Cedar Falls.

The second Interagency Team Visioning Workshop is scheduled from 1:00 to 4:30 pm, March 29 at Marion City Hall.

WMA Framework Issues:  The group reviewed a draft 28E agreement based on examples from Minnesota watershed groups. Comments and corrections will be incorporated into a revised draft 28E agreement for review and discussion at the next meeting.

Next meeting:  Set the next meeting for 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Friday, April 20th at Marion City Hall. Plan to discuss a revised draft 28E Agreement document.
